RHS Sandringham Flower Show to feature a garden designed in collaboration with His Majesty The King

The all new RHS Sandringham Flower Show, to be held at Sandringham Estate in July this year, will feature a garden designed in collaboration with His Majesty The King.

The RHS Royal Legacy Garden will be designed by award winning garden designer, Catherine MacDonald of Landform Consultants Ltd, who, in consultation with His Majesty, will create a garden that celebrates his passion for horticulture and provides gardening inspiration to Show visitors and gardeners across the UK.

The design currently being developed will feature a bold colour scheme including many of His Majesty’s favourite plants. Built by Gadd Brothers Trees & Landscapes, it will utilise local Norfolk materials and champion horticultural and rural skills to create a garden that provides a welcome place to rest and contemplate, while supporting and promoting biodiversity.

After the show, the garden will have a legacy at Sandringham Estate where the formal Gardens are open to the public to enjoy (March-October).

The garden’s designer, Catherine MacDonald, Principal Landscape Designer at Landform Consultants Ltd, said:
“It is an honour to be collaborating with His Majesty The King on the design for this garden that will be a centrepiece of the first RHS Sandringham Flower Show.  We are in the early stages, but I am finding the process inspiring and looking forward to including some of His Majesty’s ideas and most-loved plants for visitors to enjoy.”

RHS Sandringham is the first RHS Show to be hosted at a royal residence and will also include two new awards from Their Majesties The King and Queen. The King will personally select his favourite exhibit for biodiversity whilst The Queen will choose her favourite Upcycled Container, a category where communities will repurpose discarded materials to create a mini container garden.

The RHS Royal Legacy Garden will be joined by a line-up of inspirational Show Gardens celebrating Norfolk landscapes and forward-thinking horticulture, as well as a host of Long Borders which will be mentored by RHS Chelsea design veteran, Tom Hoblyn. A selection of special exhibits will also highlight the wonder of trees and soil health.

The Floral Marquee, the heart of any RHS Show, will be packed with over 50 expert growers and nurseries, and local communities and charities will be celebrated through a variety of gardens and special exhibits. RHS Sandringham will also feature summer staples in the fruit and vegetable competition, floristry displays, and a host of talks and demonstrations from top names in gardening and horticulture.

RHS Sandringham Flower Show runs from 22 - 26 July 2026 and tickets are available online at www.rhs.org.uk/shows-events/rhs-sandringham-flower-show
