The King’s Trust garden finds a new home at Uxbridge College

The King’s Trust: Seeding Success Garden, which won a gold medal at the 2025 RHS Chelsea Flower Show, has taken root in its new permanent home at Uxbridge College

Officially opened on 24 September 2025, the garden has been transformed into an outdoor learning space for students, including those taking part in King’s Trust programmes. King’s Trust Ambassador Felicity Kendal, was joined by young people involved in its construction and supporters of the charity to open the new community space.

The relocation was made possible thanks to the support of the The Omaze Education Fund and Project Giving Back. Their sponsorship has ensured that the award-winning design by landscape designer Joe Perkins will continue to inspire young people for years to come.

The garden celebrates resilience and growth, drawing parallels between the adaptability of seeds and the potential of young people to flourish when given the right support. It will provide a unique environment for learning and development, hosting elements of The King’s Trust Team and Achieve programmes, initiatives that help young people gain new skills, earn qualifications and build confidence.

Jonathan Townsend, UK Chief Executive of The King’s Trust, said: “We are delighted our garden will have a lasting legacy at Uxbridge College, providing students with an inspiring outdoor space to develop the confidence and skills that will enable them to fulfil their potential and transform their lives.”

Louise Southam, Deputy Principal at Uxbridge College, added: “As a long-standing partner of The King’s Trust, we are honoured to have the garden find its forever home here at Uxbridge College. This unique space will provide our students with an inspiring environment to learn, grow and connect with nature. The garden’s focus on resilience echoes our commitment to nurturing young people’s talent and supporting their journey towards a successful future.”

Laura Barnfield, Partnerships Director at Omaze, said: “Omaze is proud to support the relocation of The King’s Trust garden to Uxbridge College. We believe every young person deserves the chance to grow in confidence and unlock their full potential. This inspiring space will help them do just that.”

The garden will also support a year-long horticulture programme at Uxbridge College, offering students practical experience and qualifications. Opportunities will extend to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, who will contribute to garden maintenance as part of community projects.

The King’s Trust has supported more than one million young people since its founding in 1976, helping three in four move into work, education or training. The garden’s new chapter at Uxbridge College reflects that enduring commitment to helping young people thrive.
