The Silent Pool Gin Garden

Space to Grow

Did you know...

  • The delicate pale blue Meconopsis hints at the colour of the gin bottles produced by Silent Pool Distillers
  • All the materials, such as the handmade dry stone walling, steel water features and timber backdrops, have been UK-sourced
  • Water loving Iris fulva sit gently in the pale green water of the main pool

About the garden

Mixing sleek hard landscaping with drifts of soft planting, the garden provides a contemporary yet relaxing city haven for a professional couple in which to unwind.

The garden is inspired by the Silent Pool Distillery, located in the beautiful Surrey Hills. The materials are influnced by the distiller’s careful selection and, where possible, locally sourced ingredients. A raised, infinity-edged water feature reflects the spring-fed Silent Pool, a source of water for the gin. UK-sourced materials used in the garden include textural Portland stone, Purbeck walling and weathered oak. The gin-making process is represented through laser-cut copper panels, copper distillation helmets and a central ‘citrus peel’ sculpture. Multi-stemmed trees create a canopy for a layer of privacy.

The planting, in tones of blues, whites, greens and copper, blends to create a calming ambience. Five of Silent Pool Gin’s 24 botanicals have been used, including angelica, iris and rose.
