Inspiring 'Space to Grow Gardens'

Urban Flow Garden

New for 2018, the gardens in this Chelsea garden category were bursting with interesting and simple trendsetting ideas – designed to transform smaller urban gardens. A rusted corten steel water feature, unique ways to move water around your garden at the featured Urban Flow Garden, paving that powers lights, stand-out planting schemes and innovative design all combined to give visitors inspirational thoughts to take home.

Matt Keightly on his RHS Feel Good Garden

Garden designer Matt Keightley explored the positive impact that gardens and gardening have on mental health and emotional wellbeing with the RHS Feel Good Garden. The garden was contemporary and therapeutic, combining restrained planting with stonework to create intimate seating spaces for people to feel at ease. In 2018, the RHS has joined forces with the NHS to celebrate 70 years of their work. After the show, Matt’s garden is being relocated to the Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, providing a place for patients and staff to relax and be close to nature.

Floral design

Stunning floristry displays, including wedding arbours and dressed wedding thrones, were created for this year's competition – using the theme of a Spring Wedding. White, pink and green have been stand-out colours in homage to the recent Royal wedding.
