About the Garden
Two different garden spaces are separated by a sandstone wall, built from local stone and joined by a pathway that passes through both gardens and the wall.
Each garden highlights the diversity of Cholmondeley Castle Gardens. One side represents a formal silver garden in which tall echiums give height, Buxus balls provide structure and mounds of silver foliage are punctuated with the spikes of Salvia and spiky Onopordum. In the adjoining plot, an informal woodland-style garden has a more natural feel.
Unusual trees and shrubs create depth and provide differing light levels to enhance the pastel colours of the perennials and underplanting. Digitalis 'Silver Fox' runs through both gardens and represents the 'silver thread' that links the gardens.
