Dean Price Horticulture: Wildscaping for Wildlife
A border with beneficial wildlife in mind, with habitats and plants to benefit all
Long Borders

The border
The designs aims to create an ecosystem for the declining populations of beneficial insects and wildlife due to the rapid destruction of natural habitats. It is also designed to make full use of rainfall, by directing the water to where it can be most useful. The main features of the border are a stream and a pond, reminding us that water is essential for living organisms. A rock pile offers micro-habitats for breeding and shelter, while cleverly disguising the water outlet pipe.
The planting
The prairie style planting chosen for this border contains single open-faced flowers to aid the collection of nectar and pollen. The structures within the border allow for micro-habitats for breeding and shelter.
