During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Humphry Repton set out design proposals for around 400 landscapes. In these works, he laid out his visions for his clients’ estates in accordance with a series of principles of landscape design that he continued to develop and refine throughout his career.

Engaged with theory as well as practice, he shared his views and reasserted his position as master of the profession through a series of publications. This tour at the RHS Lindley Library in London will include a curator’s introduction to the exhibition Rethinking Repton and an opportunity to see some of these publications at first hand. Exploring Humphry Repton’s Red Books and original writings, these tours will tell his story in his own words.
