In an open event the Galloway Group of the Scottish Wildlife Trust will present a range of practical activities, suggestions and supporting information to encourage anyone with access to an outside space, no matter how small, to make that space more wildlife friendly. Creating habitats, food sources, shelter and nesting opportunities to attract a wide range of species not only adds interest to any garden, but will help counter the effects of fragmented habitat that threatens much of our wildlife. There will be an emphasis on simple, low cost, easily achievable horticultural practices to help improve biodiversity. Visitors will also be encouraged to find, identify and record the natural flora and fauna of their gardens in order to promote greater understanding and to provide scientific data of value for ecological monitoring and conservation. There will be things to see, things to do and things to take away!
