National Daffodil Collection – Narcissus, Backhouse Heritage Daffodils – an historic group of plants rescued from extinction by a dedicated family who are direct descendants of the Quaker Backhouse Horticulturalists.  

Awarded National Plant Collection Status November 2016.

Woodland Walk with daffodil plantings and Easter themed Café menu.
 
‘Bring and Show’ your favourite daffodil or group of daffodils from your garden, prize for the very ‘Best Group’ or  ‘Daffodil’ shown, Bring freshly opened flowers with no slug slits on a natural length stem and enjoy the fun. Sections for adults and Children. See our website for details.

Interpretation boards with the history of the daffodil, Folk lore and myth, surrounding this iconic flower from countries around the world, from Greece’s mythical  Echo and Narcissus, to China, The Roman Empire and Wagon trains to the New World.
