    Pruning shrubs

Pruning can feel like a complicated subject, and may be quite daunting. This demonstration will consider a wide variety of popular shrubs to show you the principles of pruning. You will learn how to decide when your shrubs need attention, what to do and how to do it! Tom King, part of the curatorial team at RHS Rosemoor, will help you understand more about why pruning is important to maintaining healthy shrubs.
By the end of the session, you should feel confident to prune effectively in order to make the most of the shrubs in your garden.
  • Tutor: Tom King is a gardener at RHS Rosemoor and prior to that worked for several years at RHS Wisley where he was a horticulturist within the Alpine Team after completing the Wisley Diploma in Practical Horticulture. Before this, Tom spent a year training at Cambridge University Botanic Garden and two years at Capel Manor College prior to that. At RHS Rosemoor he is a member of Lady Anne’s Garden team, where he shares his knowledge and enthusiasm for plants with our visitors.
  • Location and arrival information: The tutor will meet you on the Visitor Centre terrace and the workshop will take place entirely outside in the garden. Please allow 15 minutes to park in the main visitor car park, enter the garden assemble on the Visitor Centre terrace.
  • Catering: This workshop does not include catering. You are welcome to visit the onsite catering before or after your workshop. Full details of the available outlets and what they offer are on the RHS Rosemoor Food and Drink page of the RHS website.
