Spring llowers can be the most delicate or vibrant, elegant, and always exquisitely beautiful things, but photographing them is far from easy. To capture the beauty and character of plants requires good camera handling skills, technique and a creative eye.

Join specialist Ross Hoddinott at RHS Garden Rosemoor for a masterclass in flower photography and close-up technique. Ross is an experienced tutor, known for his friendly and informal style of teaching. During the day, he will offer expert guidance on camera settings, focusing and depth of field, while also highlighting the importance of subject selection, background choice, and shooting angle.

This workshop is aimed at photographers of all levels, but a digital SLR or mirrorless system (together with close-up attachment and tripod) is recommended to get the most from your time with Ross.

Please bring with you:
  • Your booking reference number
  • A notebook and pencil to make notes
  • Digital SLR or mirrorless camera and your usual camera kit
  • Ideally a dedicated macro lens or alternatively, a close-up attachment, for example a close-up filter or extension tube
  • A sturdy tripod with low-level capability is highly recommended
  • If you have any lighting accessories, like a small diffuser, reflector or LED, please bring these too
Lunch and refreshments included.

Tutor: Ross Hoddinott
