Discover the origins of perfumery and the remarkable role of aromatic plants in an immersive workshop. Explore the wonderful world of aromatic essential oils and absolutes and learn how to create your own natural perfume.

Through a mix of theory, sampling and creativity, you will:
  • Learn about the origins and history of perfume from Cleopatra to Chanel
  • Understand perfume vocabulary – the art of smelling and training the nose
  • Perfume structure – Top, Middle, Base notes
  • Fragrance classifications
  • Secrets of blending & dilutions
  • Safety and storage

Arrival Information: 
  • Please arrive 15 mins before the start of the workshop to allow time to register your arrival and make your way to the classroom. 
  • This workshop will take place in the Clore Learning Centre, which is located at the top of the hill, adjacent to the Gardeners Rest Restaurant. 
For this workshop:
  • All materials and tools are supplied.
  • There will be tea/coffee available throughout.
  • You are welcome to bring along a packed lunch or the restaurant will be open from 10:00am to purchase food/refreshments. Please note that the restaurant can get busy during peak times, so when you arrive at the classroom, please ask a member of staff about pre-ordering.
  • You are welcome to stay in the gardens afterwards should you wish to have a wander round.
