Join us for this unique mosaic workshop amidst the enchanting setting of RHS Garden Hyde Hall. Design and create a decorative mosaic piece to enhance your garden space. Whether you're new to the art of mosaics or simply looking to try something new alongside like-minded individuals, this promises to be a day filled with fun and creativity.

Have fun being introduced to a simple method of making mosaics under expert guidance. You'll explore laying and design techniques including how to choose suitable materials, bases, and adhesives. There will be a demonstration on grouting, enabling attendees to complete their pieces at home if necessary. Through this you will make a small mirrored mosaic panel to bring light to a corner of the garden.

Tutor: Nicola Upton from Mrs Mosaics trained in 3D glass design in the 90s and uses her experience and knowledge to create pieces incorporating or consisting of glass. She also likes to experiment with sea glass found whilst foraging near her home in Leigh-on-sea.

Arrival Information:
  • Please arrive 15 mins before the start of the workshop to allow time to register your arrival and make your way to the classroom.
  • This workshop will take place in the Clore Learning Centre, which is located at the top of the hill, adjacent to the Gardeners Rest Restaurant. There is a mobility vehicle available to transport participants to the top of the hill if necessary.
For this workshop:
  • All materials and tools are supplied. We encourage bringing a notebook and pen to take any notes.
  • There will be tea/coffee available throughout. Additionally, all the taps in the learning centre provide drinking water, so we suggest the use of a reusable water bottle throughout the day.
  • You are welcome to bring along a packed lunch, or the restaurant will be open from 10:00am to purchase food/refreshments. Please note that the restaurant can get busy during peak times, so when you arrive at the classroom, please ask a member of staff about pre-ordering.
  • You are welcome to stay in the gardens afterwards should you wish to have a wander round.
