Whatever scale your garden may be, plant combinations and strong border design are key elements in creating your garden's wow factor or contributing to your required ambience. For this to be successful, you need to ensure you have the right plants for the conditions that you are growing in.

During this walk and talk, you will visit a number of different locations in the garden to see a range of growing conditions including sunny areas, shady areas, areas with good and bad drainage, and plants in walls and vertical surfaces. At each location, you will learn about suitable plants to be grown in those areas, sometime considering adaptations that plants may have that make them suitable for these areas. You will also find out about some reliable "go to" plants that can be grown in multiple conditions across the garden.

Please bring with you:
  • Your booking reference number
  • A notebook and pencil to make notes
  • Camera (or mobile phone for photos)
Please note, this workshop will take place in several different parts of the Garden, which participants will need to be able to walk (or use a scooter etc).

Tutor: Sally Newbrook (RHS Team)
