Join us and discover how to use your smartphone to take beautiful images in the gardens of RHS Hyde Hall. Learn techniques to capture everyday moments and studio-quality photos alike, with the camera you always have on you. You will be guided to create your best images of the summer garden using viewpoint, composition, and natural light. You will also experiment with your phone’s camera settings, edit your images on your phone and save for social media. There will be a short classroom presentation followed by practical learning out in the gardens. No previous experience is required for this workshop.

Tutor: Marion Sidebottom is a nature-based photographer and artist who uses plants in much of her work. She has also been awarded a number of RHS medals for her work and is a brilliant teacher to guide you through this creative session.

Arrival Information:
  • Please arrive 15 mins before the start of the workshop to allow time to register your arrival and make your way to the classroom.
  • This workshop will take place in the Clore Learning Centre, which is located at the top of the hill, adjacent to the Gardeners Rest Restaurant. There is a mobility vehicle available to transport participants to the top of the hill if necessary.
For this workshop:
  • There will be tea/coffee available throughout. Additionally, all the taps in the learning centre provide drinking water, so we suggest the use of a reusable water bottle throughout the day.
  • You are welcome to bring along a packed lunch, or the restaurant will be open from 10:00am to purchase food/refreshments. Please note that the restaurant can get busy during peak times, so when you arrive at the classroom, please ask a member of staff about pre-ordering.
  • You are welcome to stay in the gardens afterwards should you wish to have a wander round.
