Join the Education Team for a family workshop based in our woodlands.

There are different woodland and garden based themes and activities throughout the summer. Sessions are for families with children aged 4 to 16. Children must be accompanied by their adults - we expect the adults to join in too! Book specific dates through the hyperlinks below.

Happazome Flag or Bunting  Tuesday 29 July
Go on a Garden Walk to collect interestingly shaped leaves and coloured petals. Then arranges these on pieces of cotton, hit with a mallet and make a pattern on your fabric.

Egg Drop Challenge  Wednesday 30 July
Using natural materials from the Garden can you wrap up and protect an egg so that it does not break when dropped from a great height?

Woodland Invertebrate Hunt  Tuesday 5 August
Find out what invertebrates live in the woodlands at RHS Rosemoor. Have a go at identifying them and make your favourite from clay.

Inspirational Nature  Wednesday 6 August
Use the woodlands and gardens to explore your creativity. Collect sticks, petals, cones and leaves and use them to create some pieces of art on the ground. There will be pictures to give you some inspiration!

Five Minute Fires Tuesday 19 August
Learn how to use a fire steel to make some ‘dragon sneezes’ sparks; practice lighting some tinder safely and then work in a team to collect kindling from the woodlands to plan and make your own five-minute fire.

Clay Faces  Wednesday 20 August
Take part in a scavenger hunt in the woods and then use some of the things you find to make some clay faces on the trees.

Mini Raft Building  Tuesday 26 August
Use natural materials from the Garden to make a mini- raft and then see if it floats on the Learning Centre ponds!

Five Minute Fires Wednesday 27 August
Learn how to use a fire steel to make some ‘dragon sneezes’ sparks; practice lighting some tinder safely and then work in a team to collect kindling from the woodlands to plan and make your own five-minute fire.
