Gain an insight into the incredible world of the honey bee on this short beekeeping taster experience. The session will be largely practical and hands on where you will be able to handle frames of bees whilst getting a guided tour of the beehive. Learn how bees make honey, why they collect pollen, see some baby bees, male bees, and (if she’s not being shy) the queen bee! Your tutor Matt from the Harrogate and Ripon Beekeepers Association will be able to answer any questions you have and discuss next steps if you are interested in taking up beekeeping.

You can choose a morning session or an afternoon session and this provides the perfect opportunity to discover what is involved in keeping bees.

Tutor: Harrogate and Ripon Beekeeping Association (Matt Truscott)

Please be aware that this workshop involves close proximity to bees and so is not suitable for those with a known Bee allergy

Additional info

Attendees will need to bring a pair of clean Wellington boots and a pair of clean, brightly coloured washing up gloves. Full length trousers are advised. Bee suits and veils will be provided.
