Andy is the former Chairman and current Website editor of the regional group of the Japanese Garden society where his interest of Japanese Gardens started 15 years ago.  He is an RHS Gold medal winner at the 2025 Wentworth Woodhouse Show.  In this talk Andy will share his knowledge and expertise of Japanese gardens, explaining the types, and styles with many examples of gardens in both Japan and the UK.  He will also use examples about the making of his own garden and giving a practical guide and discussing how he went from a large lawned area to a Japanese style garden over six years. He will discuss general design principles and construction details of the various features found in Japanese gardens. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and gain some tips about making your own Japanese garden or area.
