Enjoy a morning creating mixed media abstracts. Choose different textiles, woollen fibres, and found objects, and arrange and apply them to create an abstracted textural piece or a landscape image inspired by the flowers and foliage growing at RHS Rosemoor. Emmeline Webb, mixed media artist, will guide you through the process of selecting and curating your artwork, securing your chosen materials with a combination of glue and stitching to complete your piece during this half-day workshop.

Tutor: Emmeline Webb returned to art education as a mature student, gaining a BA (hons) in Illustration from Cambridge School of Art in 2008. Since then, she has been encouraging others to find their artistic voice and benefit from the restorative effects of making art, and she has 15 years of experience teaching art workshops to teens and adults. Emmeline's workshops are suited to all abilities, with an emphasis on relaxation, exploration of art materials and ultimately fun.

Location and arrival information: The workshop will take place mostly in the Peter Buckley Learning Centre, with some time also spent outside in the garden. Please allow 15 minutes to park in the main visitor car park, enter the garden and get to the Learning Centre.

Catering: Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available in the classroom. You are welcome to visit the on-site catering before or after your workshop. Full details of the available outlets and what they offer are on the RHS Rosemoor Food and Drink page of the RHS website.

For this workshop, you will need:

  • Your booking reference number to show to the team at the Garden Entrance.
  • A notebook and a pencil to make notes.
  • Wear older clothes or bring an apron to protect clothes from paint, and closed-toe shoes.
  • Bring a coat or suitable outer layer, as we will be popping outside to seek inspiration from the garden.
Skill Level: General – I want to enjoy, discover or learn from this workshop, regardless of my existing skill level.
