Want to explore Hyde Hall in a new way and make deeper connections with the space? Join us in taking photos, sketching, and taking notes in this wonderful place to help you contribute to your own garden journal and map, and to explore the feelings invoked by your surroundings. Supported throughout, you don’t need to be an artist to create something yourself. You will be gently guided with examples to stimulate your own ideas. If you are a more experienced artist, you are welcome to bring your own sketchbooks to develop your skills.

Tutor: Sandie Cottee is a local artist pioneering sustainability and connection to nature for wellbeing.

Arrival Information:
  • Please arrive 15 mins before the start of the workshop to allow time to register your arrival and make your way to the classroom.
  • This workshop will take place at the Clore Learning Centre, located at the top of the hill, adjacent to the Gardeners' Rest Restaurant. A mobility vehicle is available to transport participants to the top of the hill if necessary.
For this workshop:
  • Tea and coffee will be available throughout. Additionally, all taps in the learning centre provide drinking water, so we suggest using a reusable water bottle throughout the day.
  • You are welcome to bring along a packed lunch, or the restaurant will be open from 10am to purchase food/refreshments. Please note that the restaurant can get busy during peak times, so when you arrive at the classroom, please ask a member of staff about pre-ordering.
  • All materials are provided, but a camera or phone to take pictures is useful.
