Learn how to make your garden an inviting place for birds and other wildlife.

Gardens are a vital space for the conservation of wildlife. Add together all the gardens in Britain, and you'll have an area greater than that occupied by the county of Suffolk, making our gardens an important habitat at a national level.

With a focus on providing nesting spaces for birds, we will look at how we can provide everything garden birds need for the best chance to raise their young, along with spaces for other wildlife.
  • Nest Boxes
  • Plants for nesting cover
  • Natural food sources
  • Best times to tidy the garden
  • Inviting invertebrates
  • Monitoring wildlife for conservation
Tutor: Hazel McCambridge from the British Trust of Ornithology (BTO)

Arrival Information:
  • Please arrive 15 mins before the start of the workshop to allow time to register your arrival and make your way to the classroom.

For this workshop:
  • There will be tea/coffee available throughout. Additionally, all the taps in the learning centre provide drinking water, so we suggest the use of a reusable water bottle throughout the day.
