Come along after hours to RHS Garden Bridgewater on select Thursdays throughout June, where you get the chance to spend an glorious summer evening in the garden. Alongside the garden being open into the summer evenings, each Bridgewater Late will explore exciting topics, workshops, talks and more.
Each late opening has a different theme and activities, so you should be able to find a Bridgewater Late that appeals to you. Bookings are split into 30 minute time slots, and once you have entered the garden, you are welcome to stay for as long as you wish until the garden closes at 9pm.
Bridgwater Lates Planting For The Planet – Thursday 9 and 16 June
Inspired by the
Planting For The Planet Exhibition (in the potting sheds 28 May–27 August), over the first two Bridgewater Lates, we will be exploring climate change and the relationship between art, artistic practices and the planet through a programme of workshops, activities and discussions.
Climate Cafe with Dinah Dosser from Climate Psychology Alliance (9 June only)
6.45pm–7.30pm and 7.45pm–8.30pm, Learning studio 2
Our Climate Cafe is a warm, friendly, hospitable occasion where we can talk about what our changing climate means for us, exploring some complex feelings and thoughts, which may often be taboo and hard to talk about in our communities or families. It’s an action-free space, a chance to share our responses to climate change – a thinking space, a haven from busyness and activity.
Please do bring a drink and a cake or snack to enjoy while we talk. The Cafe will be conducted by a facilitator trained by the Climate Psychology Alliance, and further information and resources are available on this website. We will also have a co-facilitator who works in horticultural therapy.
This is a taster cafe will last for 45 minutes.

Sustainable Pottery Workshop
6.15pm–8.30pm, Learning Studio 1
Join us for a dropiin taster session exploring sustainable pottery techniques, using natural materials and plant based tools to create your own clay 'confectonary'. Practice Studios and Easy Peel Studios will help you explore the process and skills of creating truly recyclable and reusable pottery. They will be looking at the journey that clay can take from coming out of the ground and how it can, without firing then be returned back to the ground completing the recylcing process.
Please note: There is a limited number of people at any one time, so you may need to wait until the next space becomes available.
Sustainable Woodwork
6.15pm–8.30pm, Lawn at Lower Middle Wood
A drop-in workshop run by greenwood work team Start Creative. Find out more about the work, the projects at Bridgewater and social and educational impact these projects and commissions have had on the communities in Salford. All while trying your hand at some green woodworking techniques.
Forest Bathing Workshop with Ailish Breem (16 June only)
Times 6.30pm, 7pm and 7.30pm, Chinese Streamside
Find out about this Japanese practice for relaxation and connecting with nature. Be guided through the process of how to connect with the space,nature and yourself. Learn about the site before heading off to specific points in the garden to continue your midfulness journey and exploration.
