An erect, clump-forming deciduous perennial to 60cm high. Leaves are yellow-green, strongly flushed with red, glossy, the colour deepening in sunlight. The strong stems are dark red. Inflorescences are neat and tightly structured, with grey-green buds, flowers a strong reddish pink. Stems and flower heads are weather resistant, remaining interesting into winter when the heads are dark reddish brown on grey-brown stems
