'Cabaret' is a tall, clump-forming grass up to nearly 2.5m high. The dark green leaves, up to around 32mm wide, have a broad central white stripe and are topped in the autumn by coppery-pink flowerheads that turn a silver colour as they mature
'Juli' is a clump-forming perennial grass with very broad leaves, up to 0.85m high, and stems up to 2m high of pink flowers in late summer, which remain attractive as fluffy brown seedheads in winter
B. tetraphyllum is a bamboo-like, evergreen perennial to 2m, with stiff, smooth, bright green stems banded with brown bracts. The upper part of the plant produces dense clusters of fine, feathery, leaf-like, modified stems, topped with loose, upright spikes of small, red-brown, grass-like flowers
R. paniculatus is a bushy, much-branched, evergreen, rhizomatous perennial, producing erect stems up to 2m in height and spreading up to 5m across. The stems are olive green with some purple spotting
'Albolineata' is a compact evergreen grass to 2m, with narrow white-margined leaves and silvery plumes of flower in summer
'Variegatus' is a clump-forming deciduous grass to 2m tall, with narrow arching leaves striped with white, and sometimes sparse, reddish flowerheads in early autumn
'Malepartus' is a vigorous, free-flowering deciduous grass to 2m tall, with arching leaves with white midribs, and proific, pink-tinged flower heads soon ageing to silver, opening in late summer
R. subverticillatus is a tufted, reed-like perennial with erect to arching dark green, almost woody stems with whorls of thread-like green leaves or modified branches growing from each node, giving a fountain effect. Stems grow to 2m in height, forming clumps to 1.5m wide. Male and female plants are separate (dioecious). White female flowers are borne on masses of thin stems in spring, followed by grey-brown shiny nutlets in autumn. Male flowers are yellow-green, maturing through bronze to grey
'Cornish Gold' is a tufted, evergreen, rhizomatous perennial with graceful stems of light green banded with golden-yellow. Flowers on this male plant are born in brown spikelets in summer
A. donax var. versicolor is a robust evergreen grass with strong stems to 2m tall, bearing strap-shaped leaves to 30cm long, striped with white and green. Feathery panicles of small, purplish flowers may appear in late autumn
