It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
'Pagei' is a low-growing dwarf evergreen shrub to 30cm in height, spreading into a mat to 90cm in width, with small, oblong, silvery-grey leaves and white flowers in dense, short spikes in late spring and early summer
'Sapphire' is an evergreen shrub with narrow dark green leaves tinged purple, and short racemes of rosy-mauve flowers in summer
'Wiri Cloud' is a compact evergreen shrub with small pale green leaves and short racemes of light pink flowers in early summer
'Great Orme' is a compact, rounded evergreen shrub to 1.2m, rather open in habit, with narrow, dark green leaves. Flowers small, bright pink fading to white, in dense spikes
'Pewter Dome' is a compact, rounded dwarf evergreen shrub with grey-green, oblong leaves to 2cm long, and white flowers in dense spikes to 3cm long in early summer
'Rhubarb and Custard' is a rounded, bushy, evergreen shrub to about 60cm. The stems are dark purple and the small, oval leaves are grey-green with an irregular cream to yellow margin and flushed with pink, especially in cold weather. Short spikes of small, purple flowers appear in mid- to late summer
'Neil's Choice' is a lax evergreen shrub with purplish stems bearing narrow leaves, the margins and midrib purple, and dense narrow racemes of violet flowers in summer and early autumn
H. vernicosa is a rounded shrub of compact habit, with small, very glossy dark green leaves and axillary racemes of small white or very pale blue flowers in early summer
'Margret' is a compact, rounded evergreen shrub with bright green foliage and light blue flowers in short racemes in early summer, often repeating in early autumn
'Mrs Winder' is a spreading evergreen small shrub with narrow, dark green leaves, the youngest tinged with reddish-brown. Flowers small, violet-blue, in racemes to 7cm in length
