Our frequently asked questions (FAQs) covers information about home school visits

  • Entry to the garden is free for home educator families or groups attending one of our home educator workshops on the specific dates indicated
  • The arrival time for morning workshops is 9.45am at the Main Entrance where you will be directed by a member of staff to the Bramall Learning Centre
  • The arrival time for afternoon workshops is 12.15pm at the Main Entrance where you will be directed by a member of staff to the Bramall Learning Centre
  • A health and safety briefing will be given on arrival, after which the workshop will start promptly
  • Workshops can accommodate up to 30 in total, which includes students, siblings, and parents
  • Children must be supervised at all times and parents and guardians are part of the Garden Learning experience
  • The topic of the workshop can be changed at the discretion of the Education Officer, due to weather or other circumstances, but will be relevant to the National Curriculum
  • Workshops take place almost entirely outside so please ensure you are dressed appropriately for the weather
  • Workshops for Home Educator families or groups take place only on the dates stated and cannot be arranged on any other days or at other times
  • Booking is essential. Please ensure you bring your booking confirmation with you
  • As places are limited, we ask that you only book two workshops per academic year; this will allow other home educator families and groups to take part
  • Please be aware: in order for your booking to qualify you must complete and return the booking form that will be emailed to you after you have selected your tickets
  • Workshop activities are designed for the age group specified, however, we understand that on occasion it may be necessary to bring a child outside of this age range and it is important that you include them in your booking
  • Garden admission is included in the booking for the workshop, and you are welcome to explore the garden before or after your session. A maximum of two adults to attend the workshops per family
  • Accompanying adults are responsible for the students’ safety and other needs including medication and behaviour at all times during their visit. RHS staff will only carry out first aid under the direction and authority of the accompanying adult with responsibility
