School visits to Wisley are free

Wisley offers school groups a wide variety of exciting environments to explore including the Glasshouse, Exotic Garden and the Pinetum. We welcome all students including those with special educational needs.

Guided and self-guided visits

As well as our guided visits, with workshops for primary and secondary schools, we also have a range of resources for self-guided visits covering many areas of the school curriculum including art, numeracy and the natural world.

Clore Learning Centre

Clore Learning Centre at WisleyGuided school visits are held throughout the Garden. Our Clore Learning Centre, which incorporates the Discovery Room for teaching and our Growing Lab for practical gardening and science, offers a flexible learning space.

Outside is our Teaching Garden where students can find plants adapted to a variety of habitats, discover our pollinators' bed, see our vegetables growing and explore various areas of practical horticulture.

Our facilities also include the Glasshouse with more than 5,000 cultivated plants growing within three different temperature zones – Temperate, Arid and Tropical.

Things to consider before your visit

All of our programmes include outdoor experiences in the garden. Please ensure that the students and accompanying adults are dressed sensibly for the weather, with suitable footwear and appropriate clothing. It is advisable that pupils visiting the garden have up-to-date tetanus inoculation, particularly if a hands-on gardening activity is planned.
