library books

Our lending collection consists of thousands of titles covering every aspect of horticulture from specialist plant literature to general gardening advice.

Where you can borrow

You can borrow books from three of our libraries:

If you cannot visit us contact us to arrange a postal loan or telephone the Lindley Library on 020 7821 3050.

Postal charges are calculated at cost. Check the packaging to establish the cost of outward postage, and send your payment together with the enclosed invoice, on receipt of the parcel.

Online renewals

You can also renew your loans through the online catalogue. See how to renew online.

What you can borrow

Your RHS membership card allows you to borrow up to five books or DVDs for up to four weeks.

You may renew these items for a maximum of two further periods of four weeks, provided that no one else has requested them. Search our online book catalogue to see if we have what you need.

How to borrow

To become a library member you will need to complete a borrower registration form (135kB pdf). Your library membership is valid for the same period as your RHS membership.

Library accounts that have been inactive for over two years are removed from the library system. Any RHS members who wish to re-establish a library account with us may easily do so by again registering with us as a borrower.
