What is a Green Careers Open Day?

A Green Careers Open Day is an event designed to give you the opportunity to network with potential employers and training providers in the horticultural and environmental sectors, find out more about them and understand the breadth of training or job opportunities they offer. Each event will have multiple exhibitors, both national and local to the RHS Garden where each event takes place. There will also be the opportunity to attend talks and discussions from both inspirational RHS and guest speakers working or volunteering in the sector, as well as activities available to give participants a bit more of an insight into what takes place specifically at an RHS Garden.

What can I expect at the event?

The event will include many exhibitors (please check-out the event page for an up-to-date list of exhibitors), which will include a mix of local and national employers, as well as regional training providers who all operate within the horticultural or environmental sectors. Throughout the opening times of the event participants will be able to browse exhibitors and choose which ones they wish to network with to find out what opportunities they have, whether for those not yet working in the sectors or those who are already employed or volunteering and looking for their next steps. Throughout the day, various exhibitors will give talks about who they are and the work they do.

There will also be a programme of inspirational talks available for participants to watch, including a mix of speakers from RHS staff and external guests, as well as a roundtable discussion on where speakers see the future of plant-based careers in the next 5-10 years. Talks and the roundtable discussion will include the opportunity to ask questions.

In addition to the above there will be a limited number of activities available to take part in, which will include behind the scenes tours. Full details of these and a list of exhibitors will be available nearer to the event so please check the event page to find out more.

As part of your entry to the event you will also be able to explore the 240 acres of ornamental gardens that RHS Garden Wisley offers.

How to get to the Open Day

Car parking is available at RHS Garden Wisley. We also operate a shuttle bus between Woking train station and the garden. Full detail please visit our getting here page.

  • Please note: that Highways England are currently upgrading the M25/A3 interchange, and we expect to have a new improved access route from the A3 into Wisley lane via Ockham roundabout – you may wish to leave additional time for your journey in the event of traffic caused by these works.
  • If you have any concerns about accessing the event, please contact [email protected]
