    Japanese resist dyeing

Shibori is a Japanese resist dyeing technique which produces unique patterns on fabric. This introduction to Shibori Nui uses running stitch alongside the pleating and folding techniques of this practice, allowing greater control and variation of the patterns.

The morning will be spent stitching patterns into the fabric and the afternoon dyeing. You will leave the workshop with your own designs and new knowledge of the methods of Shibori which you can incorporate into any future projects.

Please bring comfortable and old clothing (for the dying), an apron, rubber gloves, small sharp scissors and a bag to take away wet indigo pieces.

Tutor: CarolAnn Allan
