Join this summer pruning demonstration where you will learn why we prune in summer and what the benefits are. Led by an experienced member of RHS Garden Hyde Hall’s horticultural team, you will learn what the correct tools for pruning are and how to use/maintain them and work hygienically; discover the correct techniques for pruning and what plants we can prune in summer, looking at deciduous and evergreen shrubs and perennials and how to Chelsea chop – a pruning technique to limit the size and control the flowering season of many herbaceous plants.

Arrival Information:
  • The meeting point for this session is at front of house, in the Welcome Building. Please arrive in good time to register your arrival.
For this workshop:
  • The workshop is based on a walk-and-talk format therefore we advise dressing appropriately for the weather. 
  • You are welcome to stay in the gardens afterwards should you wish to stop for lunch and a wander round.
