    Mosaic (suitable for outdoors)

Join north-Devon based tutor Adela Webb for a relaxed festive workshop where you will design and decorate your very own mosaic wreath to display outdoors. Taking inspiration from winter flowers and foliage, you will be guided to create your own winter flora-themed wreath. Learn how to safely cut vitreous tiles, choosing from a vast array of different coloured tiles. There will also be plenty of pre-cut glass to get you started, and Adela will be on hand to help with cutting and shaping tiles if needed.

Towards the end of the day, you will be given a grouting demonstration and grout to take home so that you can complete your mosaic once the tile adhesive is properly dried.

Tutor: Adela Webb has been running her mosaic business since 2016 and delivering mosaic workshops from her studio (Moon Hare Studio) and around the South West for the last ten years. She holds a National Diploma in Art and Design and has received training from many mosaic masters, including Caitlin Hepworth (Australia), Tamara Froud, Gary Drostle (UK), and Koko Mosaico in (Ravenna, Italy). She regularly exhibits with South West Mosaic Artists and sells her mosaic work and kits worldwide.

Location and arrival information: The workshop will take place mostly in the Peter Buckley Learning Centre, with some time also spent outside in the Rose Garden for inspiration. Please allow 15 minutes to park in the main visitor car park, enter the garden and get to the Learning Centre.

Catering: Tea / coffee and biscuits will be available in the classroom at the start of the workshop and again in the afternoon. As part of the booking process, you will choose a picnic lunch option which is included in the workshop price.

For this workshop you will need:
  • Your booking reference number to show to the team at the Garden Entrance.
  • A notebook and pencil to make notes.
  • Wear old clothes and layers, and bring a coat as part of the day will be spent seeking inspiration from the garden.
  • Wear closed-toed shoes. This is a safety requirement and you will be asked not to take part if you are not wearing appropriate footwear.
Skill Level: General – I want to enjoy, discover or learn from this workshop, whatever what my existing skill level.
