Herbs are an important feature of a productive garden and a great, fragrant addition to an ornamental garden.  In the kitchen they are a vital part of our diet and in the garden they add scent, foliage and often have flowers attractive to pollinators and other insects.

During this session, we will look at both annual and perennial herbs, with lots of advice and tips on what to grow and where, how to maintain healthy plants, herb propagation and how to store them. You will have the opportunity to consider garden design in the context of a herb garden, how to add them to a mixed Potager planting, and also how to growing herbs in containers.

After a break for tea and cake we will head out into the garden to explore at first hand how herbs are grown at RHS Rosemoor. At the end of the session we will return to the Learning Centre to do some planting, so that you have your own small collection of herbs to take home.

Please bring with you:
  • Your booking reference number
  • A notebook and pencil to make notes
  • Camera or mobile phone for photos if you wish
Please wear clothes and footwear suitable for the weather on the day. Parts of this workshop will be taking place both indoors and outside.

Tea, coffee and cake included.

Tutor: Viv Hunt
