A rounded, deciduous shrub about 100cm in height, with glossy mid-green leaves. Clusters of free-flowering, single, bright red flowers with yellow anthers are produced in spring on bare branches, followed, in autumn, by aromatic green fruits ripening to bright yellow. These can be used to make jams and jellies but please see notes on toxicity for further advice
