A very early, dessert apple with shiny, greasy, brownish-green skin overlaid with a dark red flush and pale speckles. The deep cream flesh starts firm with a sharp flavour, becoming softer and sweeter in storage. Spreading trees produce a heavy crop in late summer, which stores to mid-autumn. Requires a group 1, 2 or 3 pollinator

Cultivation

Prefers deep, fertile, moist but well-drained, neutral soil in a sunny, sheltered position. Will not thrive on very acid soils, shallow chalk soils or with shade for more than half the day. May require fruit thinning to improve fruit size and quality. See apple cultivation
