Deciduous climber to about 2.5m tall, with single, very large, silvery lavender-blue flowers to 25cm across, with notched margins, young flowers shaded pink along the centre of each tepal, fading with age to a lighter shade of lavender blue, and prominent reddish-purple stamens, flowering late spring to early summer then late summer

How to Grow

Cultivation

Plant in moisture-retentive, well-drained soil, with the roots and base of the plant kept cool and shaded by other plants or a layer of pebbles at the base. Plant with the crown 5-8cm deep to encourage new shoots to grow from below ground level. See clematis cultivation
