A small-sized, evergreen orchid species with narrow, elliptic leaves, with tesselated dark and pale green pattern. Solitary flowers, 10-14cm across, appear from the centre of the leaf rosette and are carried on 13cm long, upright stems. The pouch (or slipper) is a modification of the lip that traps insects and consequently provides an ''escape route'' that results in pollen collection and flower pollination. The lateral sepals are fused, mostly hidden behind the pouch. Petals are lime-green with numerous brown spots. The upper sepal is white, with lime-green stripes.
