A cormous, clump-forming, herbaceous perennial, with a distinct and dainty growing habit up to 90cm tall when in flower. It has mid-green, blade-like leaves and arching flower stems that bear an abundance of small, upward-facing, vivid red tubular flowers that are pinkish-orange inside with a yellow throat in late summer and autumn. Its compact growing habit makes it an ideal border and container plant
