A mid-sized deciduous tree, to around 4m high in 10 years, and up to 10m high at maturity. It has an upright habit, and broadly oval green leaves that are flushed bronze when young and turn copper in autumn. Flowers are large, upright, and fragrant, yellow with paler insides, and are produced just before or alongside the new leaves in spring

How to Grow

Cultivation

Thrives in moist but well-drained, neutral to acid soil, in full sun or part shade with shelter from cold winds. Late frosts may damage flower buds. See magnolia cultivation for more advice
