Valeria Valkova A medium-sized, semi-terrestrial, evergreen orchid with 5 to 7 linear, narrowly elliptic green leaves, 16-45cm long and 1.5-3cm wide. Solitary flowers, approximately 10cm across, appear from the centre of the leaf rosette and are carried on 15 -30cm long flowering stems. The pouch (or slipper) is a modification of the lip that traps insects and consequently provides an ''escape route'' that results in pollen collection and flower pollination. The lateral sepals are fused, mostly hidden behind the pouch. Upper sepal is bright green. Edges of petals are distinctly undulate, narrower towards the flower centre. Wider ends are bright pink. The pouch is pale green, with tiny dark spots.
