A vigorous deciduous shrub up to 3m high, with serrated green leaves. Loose conical clusters of flowers are produced in late summer, with masses of tiny fertile flowers, and larger sterile flowers with lightly feathered edges to the petals. Flowers are white and hold their colour late into the season, before fading to green
