Herbaceous Perennial Annual Biennial
A vigorous biennial or short-lived perennial, with a basal rosette of narrowly oblong, dark green leaves. In summer, tall, dense spikes bear relatively large tubular flowers, each with a wide, extended lower lip. Flowers are reddish-brown or rusty yellow-brown on the outsides, and paler in the throat with brown markings
