A deciduous shrub to 1.2m high, with ovate, serrated green leaves. In summer, lace-cap flower heads open to clusters of tiny fertile flowers surrounded by large, showy florets. Flowers open greenish white, and develop colour from the edges in, turning shades of pastel pink or lavender depending on the soil
