An evergreen shrub to around 1.2m high, with a spreading habit and rough, oval-shaped, dark green leaves, flushed with dark reddish-purple when young. Scented, tassel-like bright pink flowers with long narrow petals are produced in early spring

Cultivation

Grow in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, in sun or part shade with shelter from cold winds. May need watering in dry spells in summer. Not suitable for waterlogged or shallow chalk soils

Propagate by rooting semi-ripe cuttings with bottom heat in summer
