An evergreen, epiphytic orchid with elongated, upright, cane-like stems growing from a short, creeping rhizome. The stem (pseudobulb) is narrower at the base and broader in the upper half. Each stem carries two, firm, leathery leaves at the top. The leaves are broadly-oval or elliptic, 25cm long and 6cm wide. Large, fragrant, showy flowers are held on short terminal stems, arising from the tips of new mature growth from autumn to early spring. Each flower measures up to 10cm across, with white or pale pink petals and sepals, covered in dark pink spots and a magenta pink lip.
