A small-sized, clump-forming evergreen orchid with linear, glossy, dark green leaves, 10-17 cm long. Solitary flowers, 4-6 cm across, appear from the centre of the leaf rosette and are carried on 12-15 cm long, upright stems. The pouch (or slipper) is a modification of the lip that traps insects and consequently provides an ''escape route'' that results in pollen collection and flower pollination. Lateral sepals are fused, mostly hidden behind the pouch. Petals are lime green, pinkish or bronze, sometimes with dark brown spots. Dorsal sepal is bright lime-green with very dark spots. The pouch is bright pink on outside and yellow inside. Flowers are waxy and long-lasting.
