A clump-forming hybrid perennial, up to around 70cm high, with lobed, mid-green leaves spotted with brown at base of the lobes. Loose clusters of reddish-purple flowers, with reflexed petals and white centres streaked with purple, are borne on wiry stems in late spring and early summer
