An epiphytic orchid up to 30cm tall producing clumps of green, rounded pseudobulbs, which serve as storage organs for water and nutrients. A pair of dark-green, glossy, lance-shaped leaves up to 30cm long are carried at the tip of each pseudobulb. The orchid usually flowers between mid-winter and spring on 15-30cm long, pendulous stems carrying three to ten flowers. The flowers are slightly fragrant approximately 10cm across, and white with a pale-yellow centre. Large specimen plants can produce big clumps with hundreds of flowers
