A fast-growing, tender perennial climber to 1.5m tall, usually grown as an annual. Leaves are mid- to dark green with three broad lobes. Stems are deep red and upright, bearing dense strips of pendent, tubular, red flowers which fade to orange and then a creamy yellow in summer
