A deciduous shrub to 1.2m high, with narrowly ovate, serrated green leaves that are tinted with purple and bronze, and turn bright red and orange in autumn. In summer, loose lace-cap type flower heads open to clusters of tiny pink, purple or blue fertile flowers, with large white florets held on short, delicate stems around the edges. Flower colour varies depending on the pH of the soil

Cultivation
